The Korean art of the foot and fist
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art known for powerful kicks, fast hand techniques and disciplined, structured training. The name is commonly translated as “the way of the foot and fist”: Tae refers to the foot, Kwon to the hand or fist, and Do to the way or art.
Training combines kicking and striking techniques, blocks, stances, patterns, controlled sparring and self-defence — while developing fitness, balance, coordination, confidence and self-control.

With over 40 years in Tae Kwon Do and as club instructor at Corsham since 1994, Richard Browning brings depth of knowledge, calm authority and exacting standards to every class. A 7th Dan World Master black belt and former national sparring champion, he develops students through strong technique, discipline, resilience and self-belief. His teaching is precise and purposeful, guiding students to take ownership of their progress and achieve their full potential.
Tae Kwon Do is a brilliant way to get fitter, move better and build confidence. It gives students clear goals, useful discipline and the satisfying discovery that effort turns into progress.
You do not need to be fit before you start. Start, and the fitness will follow.
Kicking, movement, stretching and pad work build strength, stamina, balance and flexibility.
Students learn to stand taller, try harder and realise they are capable of more than they thought.
Progress comes from turning up, listening properly and training with focus. Very annoying. Very useful.
A typical class includes warm-ups, stretching, basic techniques, kicks, patterns, pad work and controlled martial arts practice. New students are guided through the basics and encouraged to build steadily.
Classes are structured, active and beginner-friendly. Students work on fitness, flexibility, kicking, movement, patterns and controlled practice while building the habits that make steady progress possible.
Corsham Tae Kwon Do currently trains on Monday evenings at Corsham School and Thursday evenings at Springfield Community Campus / Springfield Leisure Centre. New students are welcome, but it is best to contact the club before attending your first session.

Both venues are accessed from Beechfield Road, Corsham, near the rear car park next to the football fields.
The site can also become a learning resource for current students, with Tae Kwon Do theory questions, Korean terminology, belt-level practice and revision quizzes.
